Monday-Friday, September 3-7, 2012 All Ages FREE Main Street and CCAH Center for the Arts, 520 S. 3rd, Suite 9 CCAH ANNOUNCES DEBUT PLEIN AIR HAPPENING August 16, 2012 (Carbondale, Colo.) – Building community through art, the Carbondale Council on Arts & Humanities (CCAH) is excited to host its debut Plein Air Happening festival, September 3-7th. Nine artists will be painting in and around Carbondale from September 3-5th. In celebration of the recent Olympic games, a fun art “Paint Off” competition is on Main Street September 6th, and the festival culminates on September 7th at the First Fridays gallery exhibit opening reception, 6-8pm. The festival will give the community an opportunity to watch Plein Air artists at work and to see Carbondale through the eyes of the various maestros. Participating artists are: Dean Bowlby, Victoria Broyles, Majid Kahhak, Jane Lee, John Lintott, Mary Noone, Jill Sabella, Liz Thele, and Simon Winegar. The “Paint Off” is on Main Street, an hour and half competition where the artists paint the same scene for judging. The grand finale will be an exhibit of the artwork at the CCAH R2 Gallery on September 7th, First Friday, 6-8 pm.
