Friends and family of Glenwood Springs High School Athletic Director Craig Denney are coming together to support their friend and beloved educator with the expenses related to battling Burkitt Lymphoma, which he was diagnosed with in mid-November.
The benefit will be Friday night, December 13th at the GlenwoodSpringsHigh School cafeteria, during the Demon Invitational Basketball Tournament. There will be a Spaghetti Dinner beginning at 5 p.m. with food and drinks donated by local individuals and restaurants and a Silent Auction with numerous items and gift certificates from local merchants.
According to Web MD, “Burkitt Lymphoma is a form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in which cancer starts in immune cells called B-cells. Intensive chemotherapy can achieve long term survival in more than half the people with Burkitt Lymphoma”.
According to event organizers Melissa Miller and Bob Johnson, “Craig Denney has had such a positive impact on all students at GSHS, not just the athletes. When we heard about his diagnosis, we knew we had to get involved. He has given so much to this community we wanted to provide an outlet for everyone to give back. We saw the Demon Invitational as the perfect opportunity to do that with so many people from inside and outside the community gathering in one place.”
The cost of the Spaghetti Dinner will be $10 for adults, $5 for kids with a $35 family max. If you cannot attend the dinner but would like to contribute, an account has been set-up at US Bank for Craig Denney. Silent Auction donations can be dropped off at Vickie Lee Green Realtors in Glenwood Springs at 930 Grand Avenue.
