Girls Leadership Institute Expands Programming to Roaring Fork Valley
Co-Founder, Simone Marean To Speak In Aspen
As part of the official Girls Leadership Institute (GLI) Colorado programming kick-off for the 2013-2014 school year, Simone Marean, Executive Director and Co-Founder of GLI will be leading a free and open to the public talk for parents entitled “Raising Resilient Girls” at Aspen District Theatre in Aspen, CO, on Wednesday, October 9th at 6:30pm.
Ms. Marean gives audience members concrete steps to awaken girls to the power of their authentic selves by teaching the practices of assertive self-expression, emotional intelligence, healthy communication, and conflict management skills. To RSVP for this event visit http://raisingresilientgirlsasd.eventbrite.com.
This event is made possible through the generous support of Aspen School District, Roaring Fork Leadership and Aspen Skiing Company.
Girls Leadership Institute develops a relationship with girls and their families as early in the girls’ lives as possible, and strengthens that relationship over the girls’ developing years in order to prevent the loss of voice that can accompany adolescence. Through these programs, girls build strong “internal” leadership skills, which include: recognizing and building healthy relationships, developing empathy and increasing emotional intelligence, learning how to acknowledge mistakes, accepting constructive criticism and approaching conflict as an opportunity for change.
