CLEER, Garfield Clean Energy, partners and cosponsors are pleased to announce Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. as keynote speaker at the first ever Garfield Clean Energy Innovation Awards, October 5, 2012, 6 pm at the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs. The event is sponsored by CLEER (Clean Energy Economy for the Region), Colorado Mountain College, Alpine Bank, R&A Enterprises, Franklin Energy, Fridgewize, Frostbusters, Eco Source Lighting, Glenwood Hot Springs, Glenwood Chamber Resort Association, Energy and Sustainable Design, and the Roaring Fork Community Development Corporation. During his time as governor, Ritter established Colorado as a national and international leader in clean energy by tripling the state’s renewable energy portfolio and building a new energy economy that is creating thousands of new jobs and establishing hundreds of new companies. Jim Martin, regional director for EPA Region 8 (Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming) will also be attending, and will deliver one of the awards at the event. Ritter currently serves as Director of the Center for the New Energy Economy at Colorado State University, providing policy makers, governors and decision makers with a roadmap that will accelerate the nationwide development of the New Energy Economy—one that: creates and keeps jobs in the United States; encourages clean and affordable domestic energy; protects our environment and climate; keeps America on the front-edge of global competition; and helps guide the country along the road to a more secure, stable, sustainable and affordable energy future. “We are very pleased to have Governor Bill Ritter join us at this event—his vision in starting the statewide New Energy Communities Initiative was what made it possible for Garfield Clean Energy to become a reality,” said Keith Lambert, member of the Garfield Clean Energy Board of directors and Rifle councilman. “In addition to substantial energy and economic results, the original grant from the state has played an essential role in encouraging unprecedented county-wide collaboration among all the Garfield towns, the County, RFTA, the library district, and the many different partners involved in this effort, ” said Lambert. Ritter’s talk will be followed by the Garfield Clean Energy Innovation Awards. Awards will be presented to local residents, contractors, and businesses for innovations in energy efficiency and renewable energy. As of Sept 10, 2012, programs ru
