In 1956 the West Divide Water Conservancy District fi led on the right to dam the Crystal River, and take the stored water
out of our valley. In 2011 these rights were challenged by Pitkin County and local organizations in Water Court. With an
August trial date looming, the West Divide District, and supporting Colorado River District, withdrew all their claims to
build dams and divert water from our Crystal River.
Also, join us for a talk at 7:00 p.m. in the Osgood Room
on using the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to protect the Crystal from future threats.
