Local biking community invited to participate in Parade of Bike Lights! CARBONDALE, Colo. – The popular First Fridays, Carbondale’s celebration of the arts, shopping, dining and music, celebrates Light Up Carbondale! on December 2nd with Santa, holiday tree lighting, the CRES Elementary School Choir Carolers, a bonfire, hot chocolate, cookies, marshmallows, and an illuminating Parade of Bike Lights. As always, First FridayS festivities include complimentary sponsor maps, free bus shuttle, expanded public parking, and after-hours merchant specials. For more information, contact the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce, 970-963-1890. The First Fridays Coalition, the Town of Carbondale Recreation Department, the Carbondale Council on Arts & Humanities, and the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce invite children and adults of all ages to help “Light up Carbondale!” with their singing voices and smiles, and to welcome Santa Claus to town. Santa will be at the Third Street Center’s Round Room at two different times to hear holiday wishes, check his list twice, and decide who’s naughty or nice: 3pm to 4:30pm for children up to age 5, and 6:15pm until 8:00pm for the older kids. CCAH will have its December gallery exhibit, Hand to Heart, opening from 6-8pm in the R2 Gallery at the Third Street Center. The new Parade of Bike Lights will lead Santa’s sleigh to the big tree at Main Street & Weant Boulevard about 5:15pm (near the Forest Service building). CRES Elementary School Choir Carolers will be on hand, and Santa will magically light the tree. The Parade of Bike Lights will feature bikes decorated in LED lights and balloons, and everyone from Carbondale’s active and enthusiastic biking community is invited to participate by gathering at the Recreation Center on Colorado Boulevard no later than 4:30pm. After lighting the big tree on Main & Weant, the parade will continue, and Santa will be joined by the CRES carolers on his sleigh, as they all head to the Third Street Center at 5:30pm, and back to the 4th Street Plaza. When Santa reaches the 4th Street Plaza, he will again magically illuminate all the lights along Main Street. The public is then invited to join Santa on the plaza for cookies, hot chocolate, marshmallow roasting at the bonfire and sing-a-long caroling. At 6:00pm the Parade of Bike Lights continues back to the Third Street Center where First Friday particpants are invited to walk along or catch
