Applications are now being accepted for the Western Colorado Master of Social Work (MSW) degree program, to be offered at a reduced tuition rate by the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW), beginning in September, 2013. A Friday evening and Saturday class schedule has been arranged to accommodate the needs of working professionals, and a one-year degree option is available to qualified applicants with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree. Prospective students may attend one of two information sessions to be held at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs. The first session will take place on Monday, April 8, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in room 302 of the CMC Central Services administrative building, 802 Grand Avenue, 81601. The second session will be held on Thursday, April 11, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Mesa Room of Quigley Library at Colorado Mountain College’s Spring Valley campus, 3000 County Road 114, 81601. Please contact program coordinator Richard Bishop at 303-871-3615 or GSSW.WestCO@du.edu to request application information and to RSVP for one of the CMC information sessions. Applicants may also schedule individual appointments with GSSW representatives, either before or after those sessions. This innovative program, designed to meet the needs of Western Colorado communities, combines both classroom and online instruction. The two-year MSW program is available to applicants with a baccalaureate degree in an academic discipline other than social work, earned at a regionally accredited college or university. Applicants with a baccalaureate degree in social work may earn the MSW in one year, beginning in summer 2014, through the advanced standing program option.
