On December 16th the Garfield County Commissioners will hear the final presentation from consulting firm TRC for their work on Phase I of the Garfield County Energy Master Plan. This Energy Master plan consists of a robust mapping inventory of publically available data for energy resources in Garfield County including biomass, coal, coalbed methane, geothermal, hydro, natural gas, oil, oil shale, solar, uranium, wind, and aggregate. This effort is an important step toward understanding the scope of resources and potential constraints to their development in Garfield County.
It is anticipated that the Board of County Commissioners will consider the development of a second phase to the Energy Master Plan in 2014 that may include a set of policies related to the development of these resources that will aid in the Board’s decision making in the future.
Presentation is scheduled for Monday, December 16th in the BOCC meeting room, 108 8th Street in Glenwood Springs. If interested in seeing the presentation, please note the work session begins at 8 am and this item (# 4. d. vii on the agenda) will probably be heard no sooner than 9 am given the many agenda items ahead of it.
