The Ruedi Hydroelectric facility generates 30% of the City of Aspen’s electricity. Come learn from City officials how the facility operates and why Ruedi Reservoir is important to the electricity needs of the area. Participants will travel to earthen dam and tour the hydroelectric plant below the dam. Please be prepared to carpool to and from the dam site, approximately 13 miles up the Fryingpan River from Basalt. Please dress appropriately; the tour will happen rain or shine. This free event is underwritten by the City of Aspen Water Department. Registration is required at www.roaringfork.org/events or 970-927-1290.
