Here’s a delicious way to help the local Veterans Golden Age Games Team travel to the National Games in May of 2013. The End Zone Sports Pub, 152 South Mesa St. in Fruita ,is going all out with a wonderful family spaghetti dinner, Saturday, November 17th. Bring the whole family for dinner, spaghetti and meatballs, salad, garlic toast, coffee or tea and even dessert, all served 2 to 4 PM. Other beverages will also be available. Dinner prices are just $12, children 4 to 12 years old, only $6 each and small children 3 years and under are free. In addition, entertainment by “Spare Parts Quartet, Bookcliff Barbershop Chorus and drawings for 2 free spaghetti dinners plus door prizes of fun merchandise. All team members must pay for their own travel and housing expenses to the annual games, thus, the fund raising events like this spaghetti dinner, yard sales, bowling tournaments, silent auction, golf tournaments and even Santa photos. There are 12 team members planning to travel to Buffalo NY for the games in May of 2013. More than 800 Veterans compete in the National Golden Age Games event. It is the premier senior adaptive rehabilitation program in the United States. It is the only national multi-event sports and recreational seniors’ competition program designed to improve the quality of life for all older Veterans, including those with a wide range of abilities and disabilities. It is one of the most progressive and adaptive rehabilitative senior sports programs in the world, offering 14 different sports and recreational activities. Community support is very much appreciated by every team member. And Grand Junction is so good to local vets.
