Colorado Soldier’s Elk Stolen

Gypsum—The Eagle County Sheriff's Office is looking for the brazen thief or thieves who stole a hunter's hard-earned harvest right out of the bed of his pick-up truck; the head of a 6 x 6 bull elk.  The sad thing is the elk was the first one ever bagged by this hunter, a Colorado soldier.  The soldier shot the elk on October 17th northwest of Gypsum during the first rifle season. When he got back to his truck around 2 am last Friday with the final load, he noticed his things had been moved around and his trophy was gone.  A cash reward of up to $1,000.00 is being offered by Eagle County Crimestoppers for helpful information about this incident. You can remain anonymous by calling 328-7007 or you can go online at tipsubmit.com   Investigators say there is honesty and honor among hunters and this type of theft is not common.
