SAGUACHE, Colo. (AP) – The Colorado Army National Guard is
helping search for two missing hunters in southern Colorado.
The hunters were reported missing in Saguache (suh-WAHCH’)
County Wednesday night. Two Guard members on board a Kiowa
helicopter are helping search for the hunters five miles north of
the county’s airport on Thursday.
There’s at least 6 inches of snow on the ground in the search
area. It’s about 8,000-feet in elevation five miles north of the
Saguache County Airport.

DURANGO, Colo. (AP) – No charges will be filed against the
person who shot and killed a Great Dane-Labrador mix dog that was
attacking a neighbor’s chickens.
Devon Pollack says her dog, Bula, died over the Thanksgiving
weekend after her dog killed at least two chickens. The owner of
the chickens, Bruce Bell says the dogs had killed
chickens before and that a neighbor fired the fatal shot.

Pollack had left her dog with a friend while she flew to
Michigan to visit family. Pollack is calling for changes to laws to
correct what she says are inconsistencies between animal cruelty
laws and those that allowed her dog to be legally killed.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – Investigators say errors in
judgment by an Air Force bomber pilot caused his small civilian
airplane to crash during bad weather at Colorado Springs Airport,
killing him and his wife. An NTSB report says the pilot tried to
land the single-engine plane in freezing fog, low clouds and poor
visibility when it crashed on Dec. 22 of last year. The crash
killed Capt. Martin Riggan and his wife, Nicole. The NTSB says
Martin Riggan missed his first approach and had circled for another
landing attempt before the crash.

DENVER (AP) – Colorado has become the fourth state to ask the
DEA to reclassify marijuana in a way that allows doctors to
prescribe it as a medical treatment. Colorado says that the
discrepancy between federal drug law, which does not permit
medicinal uses of marijuana, and state drug law is problematic.
Rhode Island, Washington state and Vermont have also made the
request.
