Basalt–Basalt High School Girl’s basketball coach and physical education teacher Lauren Redfern was booked into the Eagle County jail this morning on a felony charge of sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust. The 25 year old Basalt alumnus is suspected of having a sexual relationship with a 17 year old male student.

Glenwood Springs–The Glenwood Springs city council will continue the discussion about a 60-unit affordable apartment complex planned for the Glenwood Meadows. Tonight’s meeting begins at 6.

Denver–Local governments would be banned from regulating oil and gas drilling under a measure that’s now before state lawmakers. Supporters of the bill say the state regulations should take precedence.

Red Cliff–The mayor of Red Cliff is hoping the federal government will help cover the 60 thousand dollar repair bill to the town’s water main. So far the town hasn’t filed an official request for financial aid for the four day shutdown. Water service has been restored after the town’s water main froze and burst last week.
