ASPEN, Colo. (AP) – The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office is
investigating after a fly fisherman found a decomposing body along
the south edge of the Roaring Fork River near Aspen.
Deputy Tiffani Delaney says authorities were called Saturday
afternoon and the man’s body was removed later that evening. The
man appeared to be lying on his side with his head rested on a
pillow. The man was described as white and appeared to be in his mid to late 50’s.
AVON, Colo. (AP) – A 30-year-old Avon woman is due in court this
week to face several charges stemming from the death of a
3-month-old boy. Avon Police say Tanya Amanda Baca was arrested
Wednesday on charges of domestic violence, third-degree assault and
child abuse causing death. Police were called to investigate
injuries to the baby who had been taken to the Vail Valley Medical
Center, where he later died.
DURANGO, Colo. (AP) – Authorities say a 69-year-old man in
southwestern Colorado who was angered over an inheritance killed
two family members and then himself. The bodies of William Decker,
his sister Billie Decker, and her 40-year-old son Robert Decker
were found Friday. La Plata County investigators said last night
that William Decker killed the other two and then took own life.
LAPORTE, Colo. (AP) – Two large wildfires are still burning out
of control in Colorado and New Mexico, keeping hundreds of people
out of their homes. The Colorado fire had grown to 58 square miles on Monday. It’s burning in a mountainous area about 15 miles west of Fort Collins and has damaged or destroyed at least 18 structures.
