SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR SUPPORT OF OUR MILITARY MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
The Garfield County Sheriff's Office has been recognized for their support of military service members and their families. Specifically, Sheriff Lou Vallario, in the center of the photo, was a recipient of the “Patriot Award” presented by the National Chair of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The Sheriff was nominated by Staff Sergeant John Pizzelli, CONG and featured on the right in the photograph. Sheriff Vallario also received and signed a Statement of Support along with the Secretary of Defense. The Awards were presented by Lou Brackett, on the left, Co-Chair for ESGR along the Western Slope.
The Sheriff's Department has gone above and beyond with their employees who have served and are currently serving and has been nominated for the ”Freedom Award”. The number of military employed and supported, numbers ten at the current time.
ESGR, established in 1972, applauds and recognizes employers who practice personnel policies that support employee participation in the military, particularly in the National Guard and Reserve. ESGR operates via a network of hundreds of volunteers within 54 Field Committees throughout the United States. Colorado has such a committed and dedicated committee of volunteers.
