The town of silt wants to cash in on history and tourism. Bill Smith believes the two go hand in hand. Smith approached the Garfield County Board of Commissioners this week to secure about 18 thousand dollars for repairing the aging, double-wide modular building that will serve as the town\’s historical society headquarters. Smith says the goal is to lead history buffs on tours of the area.
County Commissioner Tom Jankovsky felt Smith\’s repair estimate of 18 thousand dollars was too high. He figured the repairs could be done for a lot less. The board approved $8,500 for the Silt Historical Society.
