Westbound I-70 Closed at Vail Pass

Westbound Interstate 70 is closed from Copper Mountain to East Vail due to a multi-vehicle accident.

The trailer of the semi truck involved in the accident was split and off-loading the trailer will take some time.

Most all traffic is being detoured to State Highway 91 south over Fremont Pass to the Leadville area and then northwest over Tennessee Pass via U.S. 24 through Minturn and back to I-70.
However, semi-trucks are not allowed to proceed on the detour. ¬†Semi drivers must park at Copper Mountain’s Corn Lot – about 1/2 mile south of the I-70/SH 91 interchange.
The current ETA for opening one lane is approximately two to four hours.  However, this is an estimate only and remains subject to change.
