High School Basketball

Glenwood Springs–Tonight, the Glenwood Demons continue the second half of the league season as they welcome the Palisade Bulldogs to Chavez-Spencer Gymnasium. The Lady Demons tip off at 6 while the boys follow at 7:30. You can catch both games live on KMTS. Tomorrow, the Demons travel Delta to take on the Panthers at 2 o’clock and 3:30.

In other games tonight, the Coal Ridge Titans host Grand Valley, Roaring Fork travels to Hotchkiss, Rifle heads south to battle the Gunnison Cowboys, Basalt welcomes Cedaredge to the Big House and Aspen plays at Olathe.

Wrestling

Rifle–At the Bear’s Den, the Rifle Bears outscored Glenwood 41-29.

NBA

Los Angeles, CA–In LA, the Nuggets knocked off the Clippers 112-91. The Nuggets host the Lakers tonight.

NHL

Denver–At the Pepsi Center, the Avs lost to the Minnesota Wild 1 to nothing.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The coaches for the Super Bowl contending
teams met with reporters for the final time this morning in
Indianapolis. First up was Patriots coach Bill Belichick
(BEHL’-ih-chik) who said that injured tight end Rob Gronkowski is
listed as day to day after taking part in practice on Thursday.
Belichick says that Gronkowski, who has been favoring a high ankle
sprain he suffered in the AFC Championship game, was OK this
morning after yesterday’s practice.

NBA-SCHEDULE
Sixers entertain Heat
UNDATED (AP) – Two first place clubs are squaring off tonight in
the NBA as Philadelphia plays host to Miami. The 76ers top the
Atlantic Division with a record of 16-6, while Miami is on top of
the Southeast Division with the same record.
Oklahoma City is the winningest team in the Western Conference
and tonight the Thunder is home to Memphis. Two of top teams in the
West are slated to meet this evening in Denver as the 15-7 Nuggets
play host to the 13-9 Lakers.
In other games, Washington is playing in Toronto, Orlando is
home to Cleveland, Minnesota is playing at New Jersey, Detroit has
a home game with Milwaukee, Phoenix is at Houston, Boston is
entertaining New York and Indiana is at Dallas.

NHL-SCHEDULE
Panthers play host to Jets
UNDATED (AP) – Two of the three top teams in the NHL’s Southeast
Division are facing-off tonight as Florida plays host to Winnipeg.
The Panthers top the division with 57 points while the Jets, who
reside in third place, have 54. Idle Washington sits in second
place with 56.
The other NHL games tonight feature Ottawa at home to the
Islanders, L.A. in St. Louis, Chicago at Calgary and Columbus at
Anaheim.

MLB-RANGERS
Report: Hamilton relapse
DALLAS (AP) – Rangers outfielder and recovering drug addict Josh
Hamilton reportedly had a relapse this week when he drank alcohol
at a bar. The Dallas Morning News reported the incident Thursday
night. The newspaper, citing unidentified “individuals familiar
with the episode,” reported Hamilton was drinking at a Dallas-area
bar on Monday.
In a statement to the newspaper, the Rangers said they were
“aware of a situation, but we don’t have further comment at this
time.”
Hamilton was suspended for more than three years for drug and
alcohol use while in the Tampa Bay organization. He missed the
entire 2004 and 2005 seasons. He won the AL MVP in 2010.

PGA-PHOENIX OPEN
Play resuming
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) – First round play is scheduled to
continue today at the PGA’s Waste Management Phoenix Open. Ryan
Palmer is the clubhouse leader after firing a 7-under 64, one
stroke ahead of Webb Simpson. The start of the round was delayed an
hour because of frost, and play was suspended because of darkness.
Frost on the course has caused a delay in the start of today’s
play.

GOLF-QATAR MASTERS
DOHA, Qatar (AP) – European Tour officials reduced the Qatar
Masters to 54 holes when they called off play Friday after strong
winds moved golf balls and blowing sand reduced visibility on
several holes.
First-round leader Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano dropped two shots
on his first five holes to fall to 4 under through seven.
John Daly, who had yet to start his second round, was the
clubhouse leader after his 5-under 67 on Thursday.
