METAIRIE, La. (AP) – The New Orleans Saints have made a new
contract offer to record-setting quarterback Drew Brees, according
to a person familiar with the situation. The club has placed its
one-year franchise tag on Brees, barring him from negotiating with
other teams. Brees says he wants to remain in New Orleans but has
skipped voluntary practices and this week’s minicamp while holding
out for a long-term deal.
NEW YORK (AP) – Triple Crown hopeful I’ll Have Another was on
the track early this morning for a light workout, a day before the
Belmont Stakes. Trainer Doug O’Neill sent the Kentucky Derby and
Preakness winner out around 5:30 a.m. to avoid congestion around
the barn housing the 12 horses entered in horse racing’s third
jewel.
