SPORTS, MAY 24TH

MIAMI (AP) – Troy Tulowitzki (too-loh-WIT’-skee) homered and
drove in four runs to help Alex White earn his first victory this
year, and the Colorado Rockies snapped a six-game losing streak
Wednesday by beating the Miami Marlins 8-4.
White (1-3) had lost six consecutive starts since September. He
gave up four runs in six innings.
The Rockies, who blew early leads of 4-0 and 3-0 in the first
two games of the series, won after trailing 3-0.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – Peyton Manning’s two biggest targets are
a pair of promising young receivers who have already made their
mark in the NFL despite spending lots of time on the sideline.
Neither Demaryius Thomas nor Eric Decker has put together a
complete season in the NFL – or, for that matter, a full offseason.
Both missed much of the lead-up to their rookie year in 2010 with
foot injuries. Last year there was the lockout, plus another injury for Thomas.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – The Denver Broncos have traded defensive
back Cassius Vaughn to the Indianapolis Colts for fullback Chris
Gronkowski. Broncos boss John Elway announced the deal Wednesday on Twitter, saying: “Our team has a lot of depth in the secondary and this is
an opportunity for us to add a quality fullback to our roster.”
The only other fullback in Denver is Austin Sylvester, who
hasn’t played in the NFL.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) – Colorado State coach Jim McElwain has
granted senior defensive end C.J. James a release.
McElwain says James, of Florida, Florida, approached him about wanting to be closer to his home and his daughter. James had a career-best five sacks last season. Earlier this spring, safety Drew Reilly also voluntarily left
the team. He has signed with BYU.
James had been roommates with linebacker Mike Orakpo and
defensive lineman Nordly Capi. Orakpo, Capi and defensive lineman
Colton Paulhus were expelled after an off-campus fight in April.
Meanwhile, McElwain said Wednesday the Rams will be adding
defensive back Jasen Oden. He played at East High School in Buffalo, N.Y., then went to NC Tech for prep school to raise his ACT scores.
