SPORTS, NOVEMBER 1ST

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – Tim Tebow is still the Denver
Broncos’ starting quarterback, at least for another week.
Broncos coach John Fox said he’s sticking with his embattled
young signal-caller following Denver’s 45-10 loss to the Detroit
Lions on Sunday. Fox made it clear, however, that Tebow needs to quickly improve
as a pocket passer to remain the starter.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) – Colorado coach Jon Embree says sophomores
Parker Orms and Paul Vigo have been reinstated to the football team
after missing four games. Both were practicing Monday as the Buffaloes prepare to host Southern California on Friday night. The two aren’t expected to play Friday but could return next week against Arizona.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) – Colorado State athletic director Paul
Kowalczyk (koh-WAL’-chik) says he’ll wait until football season
ends before deciding the future of coach Steve Fairchild.
Fairchild is in the fourth year of his five-year contract, which
pays him an annual salary of $700,000. The Rams are 3-5 this season after losing the past four games. Overall, Colorado State is 16-29 under Fairchild, who signed on to coach the Rams in December 2007.

DENVER (AP) – Jason Giambi (jee-AHM’-bee) and the Colorado
Rockies have exercised their mutual option on his $1 million
contract for 2012. The 40-year-old slugger hit .260 with 13 homers and 32 RBIs in 131 at-bats as Todd Helton’s backup last season. He hit a home run
once every 10 at-bats against right-handers.
