NHL

The Colorado Avalanche went 5 and o on their longest road trip of the season with last night’s 3 to 2 overtime victory over the Maple Leafs in Toronto.

NFL

The Denver Broncos traded All Pro wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to winless Saint Louis Rams for a conditional pick in next year’s draft. The Broncos are preparing for this Sunday’s game with the struggling Dolphins in Miami.

Speaking of the Dolphins….

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) – The New York Jets played host to
Miami in last night’s NFL game. The Jets left the
field with a 24-6 victory, upping their record to 3-and-3, while
the Dolphins are now winless in five outings this season.

NEW YORK (AP) – The NFL has decided not to fine San Francisco
head coach Jim Harbaugh or Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz for
their postgame showdown following the 49ers’ win over the Lions.
Schwartz apparently took offense at a hard handshake and back-slap
from Harbaugh and an argument and shoving match broke out.

CINCINNATI (AP) – The Bengals have reversed course and are
talking to the Oakland Raiders about a trade for quarterback Carson
Palmer, a source familiar with the discussions told The Associated
Press.
The Bengals had been adamant that they wouldn’t trade Palmer,
who hasn’t played since the end of last season. The franchise
quarterback decided he wouldn’t play another season with
Cincinnati, even though his contract runs through the 2014 season.
The Raiders need a quarterback after Jason Campbell broke his
collarbone, leaving Kyle Boller as the starter. The Bengals changed
their minds after the Raiders offered a first-round draft pick as
part of a deal, according to a source speaking on condition of
anonymity because no deal was done.

ST. LOUIS (AP) – Game 1 in the World Series is set for tomorrow
night in St. Louis. The National League champion Cardinals are
playing host to American League champion Texas in the first two
games of the best-of-seven series. The affair will shift to
Arlington, Texas, for Saturday’s third game.

PARIS (AP) – The Tour de France course for next year has been
released. Riders will face steeper mountain climbs and longer time
trials, making for a wide-open race that organizers hope will be
more competitive.
