Breckenridge–The Glenwood Demons were shut out by the Summit Tigers yesterday in Breckenridge, 3 to nothing.


Rifle swept Moffat County in three games. Coal Ridge took care of Grand Valley in three as did Roaring Fork in a match with Palisade.


The Glenwood Demons are back on the gridiron tonight after a two week layoff. The Demons welcome the 3rd ranked Palisade Bulldogs to Stubler Memorial Field for the Western Slope League opener. Kick off is set for 7 o’clock. You can catch all the action on 99.1 and 96.7 KMTS with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45.

The top ranked Rifle Bears travel to Craig to battle the Moffat County Bulldogs. Roaring Fork heads up valley to take on the Aspen Skiers. Grand Valley hosts Paonia and Coal Ridge welcomes the Meeker Cowboys to Peach Valley.


The CU Buffs welcome Sacramento State to Folsom Field tomorrow afternoon at 1. Up north, in Fort Collins, the CSU Rams battle North Dakota State.


Denver–The Peyton Manning era in the Mile High City begins this Sunday night as the Denver Broncos host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a nationally televised game. Kick off is set for 6:20 with pre game coverage beginning at 4 o’clock on KMTS.

BALTIMORE (AP) – The Orioles and Yankees are tied for first place in the AL East headed into tonight’s second game of a four-game series in Baltimore. The O’s pounded six home runs to beat the Yankees 10-6 after blowing a five-run lead in last night’s opener.

NEW YORK (AP) – Defending champion Novak Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-kuh-vich) and David Ferrer (feh-REHR’) advanced to the men’s semifinals of the U.S. Open with victories at Flushing Meadows yesterday. The women’s semifinals are on tap today, with Victoria Azarenka (ah-zah-REN’-kuh) and Maria Sharapova (shah-rah-POH’-vah) going at it before Serena Williams meets Sara Errani (ehr-RAH’-nee).

CARMEL, Ind. (AP) – Round two of the BMW Championship is under way. PGA champion Rory McIlroy headed up a quartet of young golfers tied for the lead after matching 8-under-par 64s on day one at Crooked Stick. Veterans Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh were just a shot off the pace after 18 holes of the FedEx Cup playoff tournament.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) – They finished up the rain-interrupted and darkness-suspended opening round of the Kingsmill Championship this morning and overnight leader Jiyai Shin (jee-eye shihn) is still atop the leaderboard. The South Korean fired a 9-under-par 62 yesterday.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) – Texas Tech basketball coach Billy Gillispie has been discharged from the hospital after a six-day stay. Gillispie was hospitalized after the university announced an investigation into his alleged mistreatment of players.
