The Colorado Department of Transportation has announced that Glenwood Canyon will partially re-open sometime on Saturday, August 14th. Independence pass has been closed due to multiple Mudslides. There is no estimated time for reopening. Reminder, do not use Cottonwood, or Hagerman passes. CDOT still recommending the northern detour route using Hwy 13, US 40, Hwy 9.

As of 4:30AM Saturday(7/24) morning CDOT was able to open the Westbound lanes of I-70 through Glenwood Canyon. There has been a mudslide on Avalanche Creek Road (in the Crystal Valley) approximately 1/2 mile off Hwy 133. Crews will not be able to clear the slide due to the risk of further slides overnight.
