Canaan Smith Explains Why He’s Watching His Back for Kip Moore This Weekend

Canaan Smith insists there haven’t been a lot of pranks pulled between the acts on Dierks Bentley‘s Sounds of Summer tour in the past few months. However, Canaan is watching his back for his pal and tour mate Kip Moore.

After his opening set at their show on August 23, Canaan started partying backstage in anticipation of his 33rd birthday the next day. He’d had a few drinks when he decided to tap his pal Kip in a very sensitive area just before Kip was set to go onstage for a duet with Dierks.

“I just walked over to him, and I popped him right in his groin — right in his privates,” Canaan explains. “It was one of those sweet spots. I don’t know, like, as a dude — if you’re a guy, only the guys know what I’m talking about, but you can hit the sweet spot, and you can hurt for days.”

Once he realized Kip was really hurt, Canaan started apologizing profusely.

Says Canaan, “I was like, ‘Man, I’m so sorry! I’m drunk right now!’ He was like, ‘I saw red, and then I saw Canaan, and I didn’t know what to do!’ He was like, ‘You’re lucky I love you.'”

Kip has just a few more days to get Canaan back for that attack. The Sounds of Summer tour closes out this Saturday night with a final show in Atlanta.
