Jana Kramer Says the Subject of “I Got the Boy” Leaves Her Feeling Bittersweet

Jana Kramer can add one more accomplishment to the year she already describes as “insane”– the RIAA recently certified her single “I Got the Boy” gold, having sold more than half a million copies. In fact, the mother-to-be says the only thing that leaves her less than happy these days is the subject of her current hit.

“’I Got the Boy’ is actually about my high school sweetheart Matthew. And it’s just one of those things where it’s such a bittersweet memory. He’s married and has kids. Obviously I’m married and have a baby on the way. It’s just– it’s bittersweet. I’ll never forget my first. I just never will,” she confesses.

Jana tied the know with former NFL tight end Michael Caussin last May, after getting engaged in December. Friends recently gave the newlyweds a shower for their baby girl, who’s due after the first of the year. Even though she’s thrilled with the success of her hit and her new album, she admits it’s been tough to keep working while she’s expecting.

“It’s been hard, because I’m still super-nauseous, but I still have to keep going out on the road promoting the single and the new album 31, so you know, I get sick after the shows. It’s not forever. It’s only 9 months, so I’ll be okay,” she says reassuringly. “It’s amazing. The fact that women can carry a child is nuts. We’re very strong!”

While they have already decided on a name for their firstborn, Jana says she and Michael are keeping it a secret for now. She teases the moniker does have a piece of her name in it, so we do know the little one will be named after her mother. Expect the baby girl to make her debut early in 2016.
