Kelsea Ballerini is up very early Wednesday morning to announce the CMA Awards nominations with Steven Tyler live on ABC’s Good Morning America. Thanks to her debut hit, “Love Me Like You Mean It,” Kelsea could hear her own name called among the CMA nominees.
“I have so many feelings for all of this,” Kelsea says. “First of all, even meeting Steven Tyler is going to be such a cool moment for me. And getting to announce the CMA nominations with him — I mean, giving that news to people, I’m sure, is such a thrill.”
Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan won’t be setting his alarm to catch the announcement live on GMA. Instead, he knows he’ll hear from his friends and family should his name be among the nominees.
“You know, people start texting me right off the bat,” Luke explains. “So yeah, you know, you’ve always got to be flattered to have that stuff happen.”
Randy Houser‘s name showed up several times in the second round of CMA Awards voting, so he’s got his fingers crossed for a nod or two in the final round.
Randy says of a possible nomination, “I would freak out. I’m not holding my breath. I know what it’s like — how that happens. It’s such a community thing, and it’s such a, “Who’s the popular kid, game,” you know? It would be very touching.”
Kelsea and Steven will announce the major categories on ABC’s Good Morning America Wednesday. The rest of the nominations will be announced following that live broadcast. Steven is also scheduled to perform his debut country single, “Love Is Your Name,” on GMA.
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley return to host the 49th Annual CMA Awards Wednesday, November 4 on ABC.
