George Strait returned to his roots Wednesday night, playing the oldest dancehall in Texas to promote the release of his new boxed set.
King George kicked off his nearly two-hour set at Gruene Hall with an appropriate opener, his 2011 hit, “Here for a Good Time.” In addition to fans watching all over the world via the internet, Strait devotees crowded outside the historic venue in New Braunfels to listen and try to catch a glimpse of the icon.
In addition to his hits and classics, Strait debuted the two new songs from his latest project, “Kicked Outta Country” and “You Gotta Go Through Hell,” both of which he co-wrote.
The three-disc Strait Out of the Box: Part 2 comes out Friday, exclusively at Walmart.
