Lady Antebellum crosses off a big item from their bucket list Friday night as they headline Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Though the band has performed at the arena for the CMA Awards and CMT Awards over the years, they’ve never performed a full concert at the Bridgestone. This concert date was years in the making, according to Lady A’s Dave Haywood.
He says, “A lot of times, we’ve kind of left Nashville off the schedule. I’m always like, ‘Why do we keep doing this, y’all?’ And finally, it’s like, we’ve got to be here. We’ve got to be at home. We’ve gotta play Nashville. “
Dave’s band mate Hillary Scott looks forward to seeing a lot of her friends and family at the Nashville concert since she was born and raised in Music City. To have the show take place on September 11 adds another level of meaning to the performance for Hillary.
She explains, “It’s September 11th, [which is our band mate] Charles [Kelley‘s] birthday, but just being able to bring in a patriotic theme as well to say thank you to those local people who we are around and surrounded by on a daily basis, because this is our hometown where we live.”
In an effort to honor those who protect our freedom in the wake of the September 11 attacks, Lady Antebellum has made an effort to give tickets to members of the military in nearby Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
“That just so happened to work out that way,” Hillary says, “but it’s a huge blessing because we’ll be able to find a creative way to say thank you during that show.”
Sam Hunt and Hunter Hayes are also on the bill for Lady Antebellum’s Friday night stop in Nashville on their Wheels Up tour.
