Patriots’ Loss Sends Scotty McCreery for a Freezing Dip in the Atlantic

Scotty McCreery is such a die-hard New England Patriots fan, he didn’t have to think twice about making a bet with his pal Evan McNeill about the outcome of their Sunday game against the Denver Broncos. The American Idol winner had invited his friends to watch the AFC Championship at his North Carolina beach house. At stake — the loser would take a polar plunge into the nearby Atlantic on one of the coldest weekends of the winter so far.

By now, we all know the Broncos’ 20-18 victory over the Patriots meant Scotty was headed for the water. Another friend tweeted the video of the “Southern Belle” singer sprinting toward the ocean, adding, “Unfortunately for @ScottyMcCreery the Atlantic is pretty cold in January.” Since you couldn’t see the plunge very well since it was dark, Evan later shared footage of a cold, wet Scotty coming out of the freezing water, calling him a “man of his word.”

Scotty’s take on the entire ordeal? “That was cold.”

Later this week, there’s likely more cold in Scotty’s future, as he plays dates in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Thursday before heading to Rama, Ontario, Canada, on Friday.
