(GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO, September 9, 2019)— Roaring Colorado Toastmasters is hosting an open house to allow the community to meet members and learn about what Toastmasters has to offer. Hear TedX Speaker and fellow Toastmaster, Devan Penniman share her talk, Own Your Space.
“Since day one at my first toastmasters meeting I received the critique “own your space”, says Penniman. “From doing my icebreaker, to being toastmaster, own your space has been a constant. Please join me as I explore what it means to establish my space and exist in the world after spending most of my life trying to hide in the background.”
Roaring Colorado Toastmasters provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills,” says Michael Clark, Club President for Roaring Colorado Toastmasters.
After hearing from Toastmaster and TedX speaker Devan Penniman, members and guests will enjoy a regular Toastmasters meeting that will include prepared speeches, Table Topics™ (impromptu speeches) and evaluations.
Club Member Bobby Branham, who has served in various club positions, will be the Table Topics master. “Table Topics are one of my favorite parts of the meeting,” says Branham. “This is where guests and members are randomly selected to speak for one to two minutes. It helps you think and speak clearly on your feet.”
Other speakers include Kimberly Henrie of Kimberly Henrie & Associates and Dr. Stephanie Stanfield of Making Shifts Happen. Michael Clark, Publisher of Colorado River Neighbors magazine, will serve as Toastmaster(emcee) of the event.
Roaring Colorado Toastmasters meets each 2nd & 4th Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. The second Wednesday meetings are held at the Rifle Branch Library and the fourth Wednesday meetings are held at the Glenwood Branch Library.
