Carbondale Fire Reminds Residents and Businesses to Clear Snow AROUND Fire Hydrants

Carbondale, CO – As the winter snow continues to accumulate, please remember to keep the fire hydrants closest to your home or business free of snow during the winter season. It is important that fire hydrants are visible and accessible to firefighters at all times.

To keep your fire hydrant accessible, clear a path approximately 3 feet around the hydrant and shovel a path from the street to the fire hydrant.  These actions will allow the firefighters to quickly locate and access the fire hydrant to obtain a water supply for firefighting activities.  Please consider helping your neighbors in need by shoveling out a hydrant in front of their home.

Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District appreciates the extra effort and time involved with clearing snow from fire hydrants.
