CARBONDALE—10 truckloads delivered 125 tons of road base material to repair the massive sinkhole in Carbondale. The hole was discovered Wednesday by C-DOT employee Tim Holbrook who was filling a pothole on Highway 133. Holbrook said, “I thought I was staring down into my tomb and grave.” The sinkhole was 12 feet deep and 15 feet wide and forced northbound traffic at 133 and Main Street to take a detour. What caused the sinkhole is unknown but C-DOT is working with experts to find out.
