DENVER (AP) – Wildlife officials say a young mountain lion euthanized last week was the one that attacked an 8-year-old boy outside his Bailey home. Authorities euthanized two male juvenile lions found roaming in the area after the child was bitten on his head on Aug. 21. The carcasses were sent to a lab for DNA testing. State Parks and Wildlife officials say tissue samples from one of the animals matched fur samples taken from the boy. Family says the boy remains in the hospital and has undergone two surgeries. The mountain lion pounced on him as he was running outside his home. The lion ran away when the boy’s father approached.
