Fatal Crash on Green Mountain Reservoir

On February 24, 2014 at about 11:05 a.m., a 2010 Lincoln MKZ was traveling northbound on Colorado 9 near mile marker 121 when it went off the left side of the roadway.  The vehicle traveled down a steep embankment towards Green Mountain Reservoir.  The vehicle came to rest on Green Mountain Reservoir, approximately 275 feet west of Colorado 9.  The vehicle remained on its wheels throughout the duration of the crash.  The driver of the Lincoln, a 95-year-old Lakewood woman, was flown to St. Anthony’s Central,  via Flight for Life, with serious injuries. The vehicle was only occupied by the 95 year old driver.

The driver had sustained life threatening injuries and passed away on February 26, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Central in Lakewood.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake Dillon Fire Department, Grand County Rescue, the Summit County Ambulance Service and Flight for Life responded to the scene with the Colorado State Patrol.  Ski Country Towing recovered the vehicle.
