Lemur Bite Investigation

Police in Nederland are investigating a case of a toddler being bitten by an animal – but not an animal you might expect.
Investigators say the 2-year old child was bitten by a lemur on Wednesday afternoon near the Carousel of Happiness, a vintage 1910 carousel located in Nederland. The child’s injuries were not serious, but authorities are eager to talk with the owner of the primate, since they are not legal to keep as pets in Colorado. Lemurs come from Madagascar, off the Eastern coast of Africa, and some species are endangered.
Officials have not yet confirmed whether the lemur itself was captured.
