Colorado River Fire Rescue crews are currently fighting a structure fire near the east of River Frontage Road (near mile marker 102 on Interstate 70). The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office says the structure is an old building containing lots of tires, which are causing a large amount of black smoke.
Eye witnesses familiar with the area say they believe the building is a pole barn style outbuilding.
The nearest water source is a few miles away, so motorists traveling on Highway 6 and River Frontage Road should be prepared to move over for emergency vehicles until the fire is brought under control.
