DENVER (AP) – Denver is celebrating its new train service between downtown and the airport. The train – officially called the University of Colorado A line – began running between Union Station and Denver International Airport on Friday filled with dignitaries.
UNDATED (AP) – Colorado lawmakers are following up on promises to change the state’s system of choosing presidential candidates to a primary election, instead of a caucus. The primary proposal comes after party faithful in both camps complained about the current system of thousands of precinct meetings to start choosing presidential candidates.
DENVER (AP) – Officials say Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park attracted more than 4.1 million visitors in 2015, setting a record. The National Park Service says visitors spent a combined $450 million in communities around Colorado’s park service land. Communities near Rocky Mountain National Park received $268 million of that total.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – A driver who investigators say was drunk and racing another vehicle when he hit and killed a man with his car in Colorado Springs has been sentenced to five years in prison. 22-year-old John Marvel was sentenced Wednesday for the July 25 crash that killed 22-year-old Andrew Shada. According to an arrest affidavit, Marvel was drunk when he ran off the road and struck Shada outside a home.
