DENVER (AP) – Officials at Rocky Mountain National Park have delayed the opening of Trail Ridge Road because of whiteout snow conditions on Friday. Park rangers reported winds up to 30 miles per hour as the temperatures dipped to 24 degrees.
COLLBRAN(AP) – Mesa County emergency management officials are evacuating people who live near a massive landslide area in the eastern part of the county after water from spring runoff began overflowing from a pond. Sheriff’s dispatcher Taylor Loo says other people in the area are being warned to be ready to evacuate, but no injuries or serious damage have been reported.
DENVER (AP) – Colorado law enforcement agencies are stepping up their drunken driving enforcement during the Memorial Day weekend. The Colorado Department of Transportation is cracking down on DUI drivers with sobriety checkpoints from Friday through Tuesday. Seven agencies in the Roaring Fork Valley are increasing patrols including the Colorado State Patrol and the Garfield and Pitkin County Sheriff’s Offices.
DENVER (AP) – Officials have announced that the 2017 Colorado Motorcycle Expo has been canceled after a deadly brawl at the Denver event in January. The Denver Post reports that President and CEO of the National Western Complex Paul Andrews says in a Thursday news release that the decision to cancel the motorcycle show “is in the best interest of public safety.”
