DENVER (AP) – Two candidates for Colorado’s sixth congressional district are facing off in a historic Spanish-language debate. Organizers say today’s encounter between Republican Rep. Mike Coffman and his Democratic challenger Andrew Romanoff will be the first time two congressional candidates who are not of Hispanic descent have debated in Spanish.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – Colorado Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez is getting help again from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in the final days of the election. Beauprez and Christie will be joined in Colorado Springs this afternoon for a rally that will also include U.S. Rep. Cory Gardner, who is running for U.S. Senate against incumbent Democrat Mark Udall.
DENVER (AP) – Prosecutors have formally charged two men suspected in a 1996 slaying in Denver that was re-opened by the police cold-case unit. Antonio Domena and Sheldon Long are due in court tomorrow on charges of first-degree murder and retaliation against a witness in the shooting death of Darryl Givens. A cold-case detective reviewed the case, re-interviewed witnesses and identified Domena and Long as suspects.
GEORGETOWN, Colo. (AP) – Loveland Ski Area is set to become the second resort in Colorado to open for the winter season. Despite unseasonably warm weather, resort officials say they will have enough snow for opening day Saturday. The first chair up the mountain is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
