ALCOHOL AND DRUGS FACTORS IN DEADLY ROLLOVER

Rifle—The driver killed in Monday’s early morning rollover near Rifle had been drinking and using methamphetamine according to reports from Garfield County Coroner Robert Glassmire. 48 year old Robert Lashus of Parachute had an alarmingly high blood alcohol content of .226. Lashus’ brother-in-law, 42 year old Branden Jowell had the same blood alcohol content as well as traces of marijuana in his system. Both men were wearing seat belts but died in the crash.

FUNERAL SERVICES PENDING FOR FORMER NEW CASTLE MAYOR

New Castle—Funeral services are still pending for Frank Breslin. The former longtime New Castle Mayor and city councilman was found dead in his home Monday, apparently of natural causes. In addition to his role in local government, Breslin was active in politics and had a special place in his heart for emergency workers, especially firefighters. Breslin was a volunteer fireman in New Castle for many years. Breslin was also passionate about music and enjoyed playing instruments and singing. Frank Breslin was 63 years old.
