GW ATTORNEY CHARGED IN ASSAULT OF FORMER JUDGE/BOYFRIEND
Glenwood Springs—A Glenwood Springs immigration and defense attorney in facing criminal charges for allegedly beating her boyfriend during a recent late night altercation at a local motel. According to reports from the Glenwood Springs Police Department, 39 year old Lucette Laffoom slapped, hit, bit and broke the thumb of Jason Jovanovich who is a former Garfield County Judge. Police say Jovanovich told them Laffoon hid his cell phone in their room at the Silver Spruce Inn on August 12th. Reports indicate the argument escalated and became violent. Laffoon lef the Inn and was arrested three days later. She faces several charges including second degree assault. She is currently out on bond.
DOTSERO MAN COPS GUILTY PLEA FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER
Eagle County—The Dotsero man who shot a man three times during a failed robbery attempt last Labor Day is headed to prison for a long time. Jesus Miranda plead guilty in Eagle County District Court to attempted murder. According to reports from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Miranda and his accmplice, a 17 year old girl, first tried to hold up Dinero Rapido Check Cashing but came away empty handed. They then headed to Tienda Montes Check Cashing in Gypsum and while holding two women at gunpoint, a man by the name of Alex Gonzalez walked in and tried to stop Miranda and the girl but a fight and battle for the gun ensued. Gonzalez ended up suffering three gunshots, including one in the chest but somehow managed to survive. After confessing her role in the crimes, the 17 year old is now serving a six year prison sentence. Miranda however is still in the Eagle County jail awaiting to be sentenced. He faces up to 50 years in prison.
