EAGLE (AP) – A Pueblo man who was driving drunk and speeding when he flipped his car in Avon, killing a passenger and paralyzing another, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. The Eagle County District Attorney’s Office says Emanuel Villeda was sentenced for the June 9 crash that killed 22-year-old Rafael Torres-Ortiz. Villeda pleaded guilty in March.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS (AP) – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is conducting DNA tests on an animal shot by a coyote hunter near Kremmling to determine if the animal is a gray wolf. The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reports that the hunter thought the animal was a coyote. After shooting the animal he realized it looked like a wolf and turned it over to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

COLORADO SPRINGS (AP) – Pentagon officials say a Colorado sailor died at a hotel in Bahrain after falling from a hotel balcony.  Petty Officer 3rd Class Devon J. Doyle of Alamosa died Saturday while on liberty in Manama, Bahrain. The 21-year-old was a sailor aboard the destroyer USS Farragut.

DENVER (AP) – The latest in a series of Pacific storms has moved into Colorado, which already is waterlogged from several days of rain. Up to 2 feet of snow is expected in the mountains today, and forecasters warn of the possibility of flooding on two burn scars left by devastating wildfires in the Colorado Springs area in 2012 and 2013. May is typically Colorado’s wettest month, and so far, it’s rained almost every day this month.
