GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – Authorities say two people were injured when their car crashed into a cow on Highway 82 near the Catherine Store intersection. The Colorado State Patrol says the car hit the cow about half hour before sunrise Tuesday. The cow was killed. Investigators say the 51-year-old driver from Basalt and a 17-year-old girl suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.
ASPEN (AP) – A 59-year-old man from New Hampshire is dead after collapsing on a hike with his son in Colorado. Jon Harris of Derry died last night near Maroon Lake outside Aspen. The Pitkin County Sheriff Office’s says two other people nearby began administering CPR before medics and Mountain Rescue Aspen volunteers arrived but they were unable to save him.
ASPEN (AP) – The U.S. Forest Service has banned camping at Crater Lake near Aspen indefinitely after ongoing conflicts between humans and bears. The closure affects 11 sites. The ban does not affect day hikers or backpackers passing through the area.
