STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – More Colorado ski areas are opening for Thanksgiving weekend. Steamboat, Crested Butte and Beaver Creek opened today with fresh snow. Crested Butte offered free lift tickets while Beaver Creek is starting the season with a new express combination lift. Snowmass and Telluride both plan to open tomorrow.
DENVER (AP) – Travelers headed to and from Denver International Airport can now get a ride through Lyft. Airport spokesman Heath Montgomery tells the Denver Post that the ride-sharing service was the first to successfully apply to offer the service at the airport. He expects Uber to also apply to operate at the airport soon. The companies allow passengers to arrange rides through smartphone apps.
DENVER (AP) – Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock are serving a Thanksgiving lunch to homeless and low-income people today. Hickenlooper and Hancock will be helping 50 volunteers at the Denver Rescue Mission, helping serve 500 meals.
DENVER (AP) – Police say three people were arrested as groups of demonstrators marched through downtown Denver last night protesting events in Ferguson, Missouri. Police say they had to use pepper spray to disperse a small group of people marching toward a bridge over Interstate 25. Police say most people followed orders to disperse.
PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) – Authorities are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Pueblo. KRDO-TV reports officers shot and killed the man yesterday evening while investigating an assault that occurred earlier in the day. Police say the man was armed. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was assisting in the case.
