SERIAL SHOPLIFTER IN VALLEY LIKES HIS BOOZE
Snowmass Village—Snowmass Village Police are teaming up with a police department in Texas to find a man with a peculiar penchant for shoplifting booze. According to police reports and surveillance video, a black man, dressed like a construction worker, has walked into two Snowmass Village liquor stores and walked out with a sizable stockpile of adult beverages. In the first incident, the man entered Sundance Liquor several times and in a short amount of time made off with about 18 hundred dollars worth of booze. A few minutes later, the same suspect, dressed in construction clothes, stole about 300 dollars worth of alcohol from the Daly Bottle Shop. An employee of Sundance Liquor discovered on the internet, a news story out of Texas describing a similar, serial liquor store shoplifter. Authorities in both states are comparing notes and evidence to see if there’s a connection. RIFLE MOVING TO ANNEX GRAND RIVER HOSPITAL DISTRICT
Rifle—The Grand River Hospital District is about to be annexed by the city of Rifle from Unincorporated Garfield County. Wednesday night, the Rifle city council got details on the plan for the first time. Grand River Hospital Administrative Director Dustin Dodson says officials have canvassed the neighborhood around what’s known as Hospital Hill Road and so far, the response has been positive.
RIFLE ANIMAL SHELTER PUSHING FOR ANNEXATION
Rifle—The Rifle Animal Shelter is asking the city to annex nearly four acres of land to be zoned for public use. Shelter Executive Director Heather Mullin says it would open the door to improved services for the community. The proposed annexed property is part of a larger, 30-acre parcel just north of Rifle High School. The council approved annexation plans on first reading.
