Glenwood Springs–The Glenwood Springs City Council voted 4 to 2 to waive over 470 thousand dollars in fees for developers of the 60-unit affordable apartment complex in Glenwood Meadows.

Glenwood Springs–Water rates are going up 4 percent in Glenwood Springs. City officials say the rate hike is necessary because sales continue to fall. Sewer rates will not change.

Glenwood Springs–No more free rides on Ride Glenwood Springs buses. Starting Monday it will cost one dollar per ride. Kids 5 and under will be free with a paying adult.

Glenwood Springs–Garfield County Commissioner Tom Jankovsky has been nominated for induction into the Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in Vail. The longtime General Manager of Sunlight Mountain Resort is one of 20 nominees for the prestigious honor. Only four inductees will be chosen.

DENVER (AP) – Red flag warnings for high fire danger are in
effect for high mountain valleys in western Colorado and the
northern plains. The National Weather Service says warm, windy weather is raising the fire danger across the Mountain West.
The threat in Colorado is expected to subside Friday afternoon.
The agency warns that simple burns on farms or ranches could
easily get out of control.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) – An Orchard Mesa Middle School art
teacher is on suspension after she was accused of coming to school
intoxicated. School District 51 Superintendent Steve Schultz says Laura Bond has been on paid leave since Feb. 8 while the allegations are being
reviewed. According to reports, Schultz told the school board he is
recommending Bond’s dismissal based on neglect of duty, immorality
and other causes. Bond could not be reached for comment.
