EARTHQUAKE RATTLES ROARING FORK VALLEY

Basalt–No damage was reported from yesterday’s small earthquake that rattled a few dishes in the Roaring Fork Valley. The National Earthquake Information Center says the tremor centered north of Basalt, registered 3.3 on the Richter Scale.

BATTLEMENT MESA/ANTERO LAWSUIT DISMISSED

Battlement Mesa–The lawsuit filed by residents of Battlement Mesa trying to prevent Antero Resources from drilling in the area has been tossed out of court. A Denver District Judge ruled he lacked the jurisdiction to block drilling activity.

BASALT SHOOTING RANGE REOPENS

Basalt–The shooting range at the Basalt State Wildlife Area reopened today. It’s been closed since a stray bullet sparked a small wildfire on August 4th.

CU PROFESSORS PREDICT GOP VICTORY IN NOVEMBER

Boulder–A pair of professors at the University of Colorado predict the Romney/Ryan ticket will win the November election. Professors Ken Bickers and Michael Berry have accurately picked the winner of the electoral votes since 1980. They say based on their model, when the economy is down, the challenger usually wins the White House.
