DENVER (AP) – Gov. John Hickenlooper is proposing new rules
requiring oil and gas drillers to publicly disclose the ingredients
of their hydraulic fracturing fluids, even though he believes there
is almost no chance the fluids are contaminating water wells.
Hickenlooper announced the plan today at a Colorado Oil & Gas
Association conference in Denver.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach
has ordered an independent investigation after a former director of
finance accused a city official of covering up financial problems.
Terri Velasquez said chief of staff Steve Cox tried to cover up an
overpayment of nearly $5,000 in his favor. Bach and Cox issued a
statement saying the complaints are without merit.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – Six people were treated after a
man was found dead in a Colorado Springs apartment contaminated
with cyanide. Paramedics said they answered a call to the Fillmore
Ridge Apartments and found a man’s lifeless body. They found the
chemicals and quickly called the hazmat units. Several people who
were exposed to the chemicals were decontaminated on scene.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) – Want to buy a Colorado ski resort?
Bidding begins Thursday for Powerhorn Ski Resort at the resort’s
Day Lodge. The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel says a cashier’s check
for $10,000 will be required to bid. A resort spokeswoman says the
ski area isn’t in distress, but CEO Steve Bailey and Skalla thought
an auction was the quickest option for finding a new owner as
Bailey heads toward retirement.
