Denver–Over 90 law enforcement agencies across the state will be working overtime looking for drunk drivers this New Year’s Eve. The increased patrols will begin Friday night at 6 and continue through 3-am Monday, January 2nd.
Denver–The engineer who’s accused of doing poor work on school construction projects in Craig and Meeker has had his license suspended by the state. State officials suspended the license of former Neenan Company engineer Gary Howell pending a review.
Denver–Several new laws are going into effect New Year’s Day including a requirement that youth coaches be better prepared and educated about concussion symptoms in players.
Grand Junction–Officials at the Grand Junction Regional Airport aren’t happy about the fence and security gates there. They say they’ve been bad for business.

2 found dead after Christmas fire in Craig

CRAIG, Colo. (AP) – Authorities in Craig say two people were
found dead after a fire in their home on Christmas.
The victims have been identified as 54-year-old Charles Hurtt
and 63-year-old Frances Burkleo.
The Craig Daily Press (http://bit.ly/tZm92N) reported that the
fire started in the enclosed porch of their mobile home and was
likely caused by some combustibles near a wood stove.
The Moffat County deputy coroner, Beka Warren, said the official
cause of death is under investigation.
MCDONALD’S PARKING LOT SHOOTING
Colo. mother shot in McDonald’s parking lot

PARKER, Colo. (AP) – Police are investigating the fatal shooting
of a mother of three in a McDonald’s parking lot in Parker.
The unidentified woman was shot by a man who drove by in a red
pickup truck as her children were waiting inside the restaurant.
Police then searched for the woman’s husband, 53-year-old Mark
Steven Royer, and found him dead near his truck close to a high
school.
The Denver Post (http://bit.ly/ukmwps ) reports Royer divorced
his wife last year. Court records show that she got a permanent
restraining order against him in April after alleging domestic
violence.
